A great location and high-quality living space are critical when looking for an apartment or a commercial lease. Of equal importance is the connection you have with your management company. We treat the relationships we have with our residents with care and respect. We want you to feel at home with Globe.
Globe’s financial strength and modern energy-efficient practices allow us to reinvest in our rental properties at a much higher rate than the industry average. With a long-standing tradition of providing exceptional service at competitive market prices, it’s easy to see why Globe renters stick with us.
“I was happy to sign a lease on a newly renovated suite but needed to move in before the work was complete. I worried that it was going to be a big inconvenience. The resident manager in the building was great about it! She kept me updated on the progress and the tradespeople coming and going were very respectful of my space.”— Ryan, Barrington Place
The following are the most common questions we receive, but you may have one that we haven’t covered. If that’s the case, contact us using our online form or talk to your on-site resident manager.
How do I apply for an apartment?
You can apply online or by completing a paper application. To apply online, click Apply Now on the apartment listing page. You can download a paper application and drop it off at our head office or leave it with the resident manager of the apartment.
What do I need to include with my application?
1. General Applicant: application form and your security deposit.
2. Employment Income Assistance (EIA) Applicant: application form, your security deposit, guarantor form and a budget sheet or direct deposit form showing proof of income.
3. Retired Applicant: application form, your security deposit, and proof of income.
4. Students and new-to-Canada applicants: application form, security deposit guarantor form and proof of income or financial support.
It is important to submit your security deposit (half of one month’s rent, not including parking) with your application. Without it, there may be a delay in processing your application, which could affect getting your suite of choice.
We may request additional documents depending on factors such as income and rental history.
What are my rent payment options?
You can pay your rent online using TenantPay or you can sign up for automatic withdrawal of funds from your bank account. Alternatively, you can provide your on-site resident manager with post-dated cheques, certified cheques or money orders. Cash payments are only accepted at our head office.
What are my security deposit payment options?
You can pay your security deposit online using TenantPay (only available for residents in Manitoba and Saskatchewan). All other provinces may pay by certified cheque or money order. Québec applicants may pay on-site using debit card.
How do I make a maintenance request?
Fill out this online form or contact your resident manager directly, who will respond within 24 hours (Monday to Friday) to confirm a date for a technician to come by. If it is an emergency (e.g., water leaking into your suite), please contact your on-site resident manager immediately.
How do I add a roommate to my lease?
Any person 18 years or older who wants to move into your suite must fill out an Add to Lease Application form available online or from your on-site resident manager. Your prospective roommate will go through the same checks as all applicants, including confirmation of rental history, employment/income, and credit history.
Does the no-pet policy include all pets?
Yes. Our no-pet policy includes all animal breeds, caged and non-caged, and applies to all of our properties. We believe that pets and their owners deserve to live in an accepting environment, which is impossible to ensure in a multi-family building. We have special allowances for certified service animals.
Where am I allowed to smoke?
Because of the known health risks of second-hand smoke, risk of fire, and increased maintenance costs, we do not allow any form of smoking (i.e. tobacco, vaping, cannabis) in suites, balconies, or common areas. If you wish to smoke, you must do so in designated areas off of Globe property.
Am I allowed to barbeque on my balcony or patio?
Whether you can barbeque will depend on the construction of your building. Most of our buildings are barbeque-friendly, but please check with your on-site resident manager to confirm this.
How can I contact my property manager?
You can find a list of our property managers here.
Where can I provide general feedback?
We value feedback from our residents. Please visit our Feedback page to send us a message.
